  • Whitburn 3rd Sept

Haven't been out for a few months so I decided to give Whitburn a shot. Launched into a slight sea paddled out and drifted North. Fishing was slow and not much showing on the fishfinder but plenty of salmon/sea trout jumping to keep me entertained. Tied off at a pot dahn for a while but no luck, untied and started my drift and was straight into a nice codling of 3lb. The ground was showing fish so I repeated the same drift a few times without any luck.

The wind picked up and turned south east making the paddle back hard with a snotty sea and a 2/3ft swell. Nice to see the old harbour, makes landing a lot easier.

While out fishing I was listening to the RNLI rescuing two kayakers at Flamborough Head, one was in the water but both rescued.

nice fish better than I did off the shore.
Noticed 3 kayaks fishing out around south shields bays, on the 2/9/2014.

Excellent Davey, good to see. Is the launching shot at Whitburn at the back of Latimers fish shop? Because if that is where you go, I have been told that when the sea is too rough for launching into down at Shields big beach, Latimers beach still remains relatively calm.

That's right the old harbour wall protects you. The only thing is getting your yak back to the car park up heart attack hill.
