I'm at work at the minute but had a chance to drop a line in East loch Roag the last couple of nights as the North Atlantic was a bit rough to say the least so we headed in to anchor. The fishing was ok the first night with a few grey gurnards and mackerel but the second night it was much better with thornback rays to 4LB, red gurnards to 2Lb and some good sized dabs. There were also grey gurnards again and the inevitable mackerel. My fishing time was limited to time off outside of my watch but the fishing was great and a total difference to the hard groung around Amble. Flowing traces baited with fresh mackerel as well as baited daylights were doing the business. I wish we had some better gear aboard the ship as I wouldn't have minded a go for the skate with a whole mackerel as I know they live in the loch. I am due home next week and will add the photo's then.
