so , with the comp cancelled but the weather not quite as bad as we expected (along with the knowledge bert and the lads done well yesterday) ... off we set at a holiday start time of 8.00am .... so late was this that I was up and at marina an hour early with plenty of time to get through the lock , fuel up and relax in the sunshine while I awaited the lads at 8.00 (Tony and Frank).
Of we set with all the traffic (charters by the many at this time of the morning).
Got to piers about bottom of tide so not too disturbed to find no fish at location (1).
Great day for boating today with a big swell and walls of water in front of the boat , although not worrying as it was very regular and containable (not that my back thinks so at this point in time).
It`s certainly a big swell when you loose sight of land when only at the St Marys yello can ....
Tried a few spots ang caught a few small returnable tommy codlings along with many many scotchies (or are they really sea bream i heard it say? ).
Big fish in kilts today so big that we think tony made a new PB in kilt fish fishing..........
As the day wore on and we tried and tried several spots hard ground and wrecks it became obvious that this was not a good catch day with only a couple of decent cod (and mackerel of course) to keep.
Still, Tony aired his new micro fine rod with a kilt for the first fish caught and smeared it deeply in mackerel scales so at least thats out the way now.
Not much in the way of pictures other than this of Tony`s new rods first fish .................
better luck next week .................
