  • Monday, 7th. Hartlepool on Famous

Had a trip on Famous with 2 other lads from Blyth.
Been a while since I was onboard Famous, my normal boat is Ali-Cat, anyway, same skipper today so off we set into a pleasant sea.
First drop off for Mackerel (bait) not many early on, but available throughout the day when needed and late on for those taking a few home.
Dave moved us to roughly around the same spot that had produced for him on the day before and up came the fish, mainly Cod, but throughout the day, I noticed that a much better size of Ling were beginning to come onboard.
Dave didn't have to search the sea today, as on every new mark the fish were there.
Fishing was steady all day, best Ling about 12lb and best Cod pushing 9lb with a very good amount of 4lb to 7lb fish.
I had a short spell on bait for Ling which brought me 2 nice fish around 10lb each ( my dear Mum loves Ling)
Rest of my fish were all caught on 6" Pearl sandeels, 2 took a hammering and lost their tails on Cod teeth.
I finished off with my 2 Ling and 8 Cod between 3lb and 7lb and lots of 2lb ish fish returned.
The other 2 lads took equally as many, but had a few more of the bigger fish.
It had started a bit slow for Gary, but he stepped up late on and won the heaviest fish.
Overall a very good day, with well over 60 Cod and about 20 Ling.
    everyone onboard taking fish home.
Everything is slowly increasing in size on each trip I have, and that's great news, back out again this Sunday, weather permitting, camera at the ready for this trip.
Tight lines and thanks for reading.

Good day for you John, certainly better than ours! Put on the braid that you kindly gave us, worked just fine, apart from catching fish! Lynn got a sore finger laying the line though I on the other and with my level wind had no such issues!
2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .

      Good morning Mark
A very disappointing start for you both, I shall be having words with the fishing Gods to ensure your remaining trips are more fruitful.
It wouldn't be the first time you've heard it or me saying it but there are never guarantees nor 2 days the same with fishing.
It will come good for both of you, probability when least expected.
Stick at it Mark, patience and determination will be rewarded.
I've had some stinking days at sea, but never gave up.
And yes , Braid cuts like a knife, I'm sure you administered the correct first aid........

Hello David, I trust you are well.
There were a few others onboard, but as you know, the deck space on Famous could easily fish 20 people.
It's just great having the space.
Hope to be fishing for fun after this weekends trip.
          Freezers just about full.
