Out of the traps early today - even managed to beat Shady AND the Boys to the fish this week...4am start saw us fishing beyond the Piers at about 0430
...all of us were into a few good sized Cod early on including a new PB for my good self...PB Cod is now a modest 7lb
Joined today by Mr Stein, a Jewish newbie to the world of boat angling - as such all fish, crabs, worms, squid etc had to be handled in a strictly kosher manner...that aside it did not hinder our catching one little bit
Firstly before I go on, an apology to Bert....a technical problem during the breakfast handover resulted in the loss of Shadys landing net
...I would say that it's maybe worth a trawl with a pirk for the next few weeks around the piers as you may just score a bonus catch of one landing net and 4 bottles of premium beer nestled nicely inside 
Like I said the fishing was good from the off with fish steadily coming over the gunnels...Norman did hook into something that looked and felt like the first doubler of the season...well it was (of sorts) a nice double header of a 7lb Cod and 4.5lber
...
All of the fish it must be said were coming in from either inshore or inshore wrecks...we did venture into deeper water on a few occasions but the only thing to fall to the boat was a load of mackerel (which I went about catching to fulfil some orders from peeps at work)
After a slow but reasonably productive spell at the yellow Can we moved back out onto a wreck...we were all experimenting with different ideas now, Mr Stein tried something he'd seen Matt Hayes and Mick Brown catch pike with - Norman was using something else and I was fishing a 1lb+ macky flapper in search of a leviathon...well I did hook into something BIG, HUGE in fact - it took two of us over 5 minutes to winch the beast in (Rav Todot Mr Stein!)...turns out it was a lump of steel and net!!!
So anyway, we fished here and we fished there with the fishing dying off pretty much by about 1000 although we did persisticate until just after midday - by which point we were all pretty much dead on our feet after the early start.
Rainy start to the morning followed by misty cloud followed by glorious blue skies...great day to be afloat
Final Tally:
17 Cod (and a load of mackerel...no launce)
Heaviest fish were 7lb...of which about 3 that size came aboard today, the average size was a lot higher than previous weeks with 5s, 6s and 7s being caught.
