Bit of a bonus report today, which I'm sure the skipper will agree with when he gets on ...Forecast wasn't great so it wasn't until this morning that the call was made to venture out.

Nice leisurely 9am start today as a result - so we could fish the tide up.

Lumpy and bumpy next to the piers so we headed straight off towards St Marys where we would fish a close in wreck to begin with.

We both dropped down unbaited daylites and feathers to see if there were macky about (as reports elsewhere indicated they were starting to show)

Norman pulled a couple aboard while I pulled in a 2lb Coaly

Tried a couple of more drifts for mackerel but they're obviously not about in large numbers yet as we didn't get any more...

So on to the matter at hand, we went round again...

First fish to the boat felt like a monster ....my rod was bent double like a floppy shoelace it honestly felt huge ...turns out I was pulling in a 6lb Cod sideways ...still a very nice fish, but not quite the doubler I thought it was going to be

Norman also soon pulled in a nice codling of about 4lb on the wreck...all in all about half a dozen good sized fish came aboard from the wreck - including the first "keepy" Ling of the season (to me )

Moved onto the rough ground after a while and the fishing continued with more codling coming aboard and also another small ling which went back. I also caught myself that elusive doubler (pics to follow )

An excellent few hours out this morning - cheers as ever Norman

    Final tally being:

15 Cod - best 7.5lb to the skipper
    1 Ling
    1 Coalfish
    2 Mackerel

Norman will be adding pics shortly

    Cheers

    Tony

              cheers Tony,

As mentioned earlier, today was a bonus as we`d not expected to get out but the sea was , if only just, in our favour today so we gave it a bash.

It was kind of "real good when a plan comes together" time today and I think we just managed to be in the right place at the right time.

just a couple of pics of the day , I think Tony`s already said it all

First mackerel of the season, not big but in exactly the place we targeted them.

              '

An "Equalled" PB for Tony, nice 6 lb codling

              ,

And the first little ling of the season 5.5lb

              ,

And for me in the wind and rain a decent 7lb codling

              ,

Last but not least, NO mate that don`t count as a doubler ...
but it does show how well the fishing went today

              ,

              ,

              roll on next trip ......................

ps ...... hows the neck Frank?
