10 Anglers on board today were treated to some cracking sport with the Codling. We sailed at 8am & were fishing within 10 minutes.
The Fish were there from first drop & for the first 2 hours it was pretty much non stop action drift after drift. I had 7 in the box as well as returning 3 more & dropping some off. It then went quiet for me with only another 2 in the next 2 hours before picking up again.
I stopped fishing with 20 in the Box, deciding it was time to Gut & Head them. It was just before 3pm & I was knackered so headed for some craic with the boys in the Cabin.
Guys were still pulling them in regularly till we decided enough was enough & headed in.
At least 4 guys had similar numbers to myself & would guess at maybe 150 in total.
Hardly anything but codling today, was 1 Pollock & not a Whiting in sight.
I used nothing but a 6/0 flapper Rig with Fresh Mussel, Rag, Crab Cart, frozen blacks, Macky & live Peeler Crab. No interest in the Peelers at all, must be those west Coast Crabs
A cracking day with everyone going home happy with Fish Suppers aplenty.
A big thank you to Skipper Bob & Crewman Bill for putting us on the Fish all day & keeping us supplied with Tea & Coffee. Great Boat.

Tired Crew starting to clean up.
My Box, minus Heads & Guts
