    First report of 2014!!

After not taking the opportunity yesterday afternoon into evening ( still regret it), I was determined to get 'amongst em' this morning, headed out into a sea that was ok (ish), straight onto some ground off Ryhope, had a lot of fish here on Monday but mostly under 2lb with only 3 being keepers, exactly the same again, lots of fish but all around 1.5lb.

Sea was getting a bit uncomfortable so headed closer in off Hendon, still lots of fish again mostly a bit small upto 2lb but with a few in the 4 to 6lb stamp, kept 6, drift became silly at 2knots around midday and after losing loads of gear trying to keep in touch with the bottom called it a day, great decision as got in before heavens opened and spent 10 mins between the piers with a pod of porpoises, great sight with several jumping clear out of the water, a real treat for people on the pier as they got a good show as well, tried to get some pics but they don't do it justice as usual!

Great fishing and report. Those porpoise are fast, aren’t they; too fast to take a decent picture of them jumping but still good to see.

Taking a day off on Fri.....fingers crossed for a belter of a day, looking good at the minute but as we know it can all change!

Is the boat fit for straight out there or does it need the Chris treatment first? You will have your first fish over the side on her pretty sharpish I reckon. Hope you get sorted without any problems mate.

Good day out, even if the sea was a bit lumpy. Nice pic of the fish, looks like they're all out the same mould. Were they not dolphins, as I don't think porpois jump.
