  • Slinky Kate 10/05/14 Cold, damp and a bit fishy!

We always knew today was going to be damp and perhaps a smidge cold…but with positive reports from previous days running through our minds we were not to be deterred!

Another semi leisurely meet up saw us beyond the piers at just after 0530…we had expected to see familiar faces already out there but not so! Was this a sign???

So we took a left turn and headed off to St Marys to chance our arm…blimey moses it was cawld and wet!! …a steady gusty wind from the south laced heavily with the wet stuff saw us feeling quite miserable early on – in fact the skipper, normally so airy and bright, was having a good old fashioned grumble

*sazza frazza cold* *grumble moan early bath* and so on

So to cheer him up I showed him that there were fish down there by quietly reeling one in when his back was turned…it’s funny how catching fish can lighten the tone

That was the start of it…Norm managed one of his own moments later and thus all negative talk was put firmly on the back burner – the bad weather would just have to be put up with as we had some fishing to do!

So we pottered here and there in and around St Marys for a while when I chanced to check my phone…

    “Destination X is Hot!”

…a very (very) brief communique was passed to the skipper before Slinky roared towards the action!

Found the usual suspects floating about with big grins on their faces so gave them some breakfast and then joined them!

It was still raining and was still bitterly cold at times but the steady stream of fish coming in over the side in 1s and 2s kept the spirits up for the next couple of hours

All manner of shapes and sizes of rigs and lures were catching the fish – Norman in fact is in full R&D mode at the minute in his bid to blood new product lines…safe to say all well in that regard and also *ahem* the erm mackems did quite well today!

We ended up having an early bath by Slinky standards anyway but by this time we had our fill in the box and our spirits were high

    Few pics of the day:

What's that blue rod your using Tony? Looked a canny action when you were pirking. Love the Maxximus rods but the rings are crap.
                    Cheers, Keith.

                          Nice one lads.
we (On-A-Roll) seemed to have missed must of the rain with the 8.30 start.
even down to fishing in a t shirt at some points.
