After digging bait last week and the weather being what it's been lately, decided to have a couple of hours bait fishing off Whitley. Arrived on the hard ground around 9am, chucked the anchor out and the boat swung round quickly with the tide and southerly wind together.
Things were a little slow, and the first two codlings, both about 1/1/4lb each were only lip hooked and were put straight back. Soon another bite produced a codling about 1/1/2lb which was gut hooked, so went in the box.
Another couple of fish again gut hooked, but size, then a bit better fish around 4lb on the really light rod, which was good fun.
The tide was now slack, and the wind making the boat yaw everywhere signalled it was time to pack in as the bites had stopped.
Ended up with 8 to bring home, so not too bad a morning.
