a trip up to crinan was on the cards, so when we got a weather window for friday and saturday decided to take the day off work
so me and ian left at at 4.00 in the morning and getting to crinan slip for 10
meeting our mate lozz who had drove from dover 11 hours
Off with the kayaks and paddled out to the mark 450 feet deep anchors down and set we sent the baits down on a 14/o hook 2lb lead on a wind on leader and the wait begins
baits were getting destroyed after about 20 minutes ,by them horrible little critters, dont know the name for them but there like little wood lice
after a few hours hit into a skate battle on and the gurning begins
putting a bend into the 50lb class rod to the test
his release lg reel was the dogs ,blew our tld20 and 30 two speeds away
and up came this beauty not bad for a first ever skate
probably about the 110 lb mark
then our mate lozz had a couple of biggies
putting his conoflex IGFA 50lb rated rod
in total we had 4 skate all about 110lb 180lb and 2 over the 200lb mark
not a bad first trip in my rtm abaco
