Well it seems Davey is still struggling to put two words together, (he is from Whitburn)or is shy so I've been delegated the duty of being press officer again.
5th October
Davey fished the ground on his own at anchor using the usual crab baits etc.......good day was had with approx 18 Codling to 4lbs being caught.
6th October
Same tactics as the 5th. We fished some local ground marks north of Sunderland. We tried fishing at anchor and drifting using baited flowing traces. Fishing was slow all day with some flurries of fish and long quite periods.
Things picked up around 12:00 when Davey got the pan on and managed to russel togther 6 Bacon sandwiches between the three of us to compliment the many cheese savoury sandwiches already consumed. Desert was Snickers bar each served with capuchino coffee.
Anyway, back to the fishing.........we tried drifting as the tide eased and picked up one or two fish but lost lots of gear...!!! As the tide started to ebb again we got the anchor down but things continued to be slow.
Things picked up again around 14:00 as the pan was put to work again. Three wonderful Lincolnshire sausage sandwiches and a family sized Galaxy bar between us proved a little too much and an hour or so later I was asleep on the back of the boat........I was woken with a jolt and my rod registering a bite........missed it though....bad angling..!!!
The fish were very finicky all day...............we seemed to get plenty knocks but not many real takes. The fish were also quite small with the biggest all day around 3.5lbs.
Anyway, we finished up with around 15 or so Codling, a few good sized Wrasse and the usual dreaded Blegs for Marty.
Davey is back out tomorrow, (I'm not....I have a real job) so hoping things pick up.
Cheers,
Jeff.
