Left seaham marine 9.30ish just after the gates opened and anchored up 10 minutes later,
lines over the side john with a couple of runnydown on me with 1 runnydown and a lump of bluey, then bang fish on within a minute to john, well it is his boat and would be rude not to let him have the first 1, just a small bleggy I think, but a promising start, from then on we took turns picking up codling, 3 or 4 each to about 2lb and the odd whitey they all went back as we were hoping for something a little bigger, and we got what we were waiting for. about 11.30 a better stamp of fish started to show, john got a cod of about 4 or 5lb then my turn with a one of 6 or 7lb his turn again with another good looking fish of 5lb ish all within about 10mins
Things it went a bit slower after that still picking up the odd fish until 2pm and we called it a day and job well done. we used bluey runneydown cuttlefish crab and squid a good selction of bait all caught fish, 1 squid head best bait for me it took 4 fish including the best of the day. didnt weigh the fish but did measure them 2 at 58cm 1 at 65cm. more than a dozen fish between us kept 4 cod and 2 whitey.

              a few boats

THERE was was 6 or 7 boats out there but they seemed to be moving about a lot so i guess the fishing was slow for them and were trying to find the fish, but we just stayed put and let them find us, there was 2 boats just of hawthorne point they didnt move so they might have been catching but dont know where they were from, as for the cuttlefish plan was to stick a whole 1 on a big hook and leave it on the bottom until a biggy came along like they do down south but lost me bottle and just put a slice of it on and it did catch a fish, but we took that many flavours of bait that i chopped and changed all morning all caught fish, john mostly plugged away with the runneydown and out fished me i think by a couple of fish.
