Went out of sunderland today with Falcone and His cousin. In the morning I bought a plotter and spent the morning fitting it, so arrived at the slip at low water at 1am.

Well the comments made about yesterdays fishing are true and today was no different. Only one way to describe it...dire.

One ling of 6lb and a few whiting,bleggs and a very small cod.

One of the main things I did was tried out the new plotter. What a superb bit of kit. How I have gone without one for so long I will never know

You put a cursor on a wreck marked on the charts and click "goto cursor"...and hey presto the wreck appears on the fish finder when you arrive. We visited about 14 wrecks within 3 1/2miles of sunderland ...quick drift across each and move on ( but not before putting the mark in the old gps as a backup)

If anyone is thinking of buying a gps dont...save and buy a plotter...they are worth every penny. The thing even calculates the tides on each day...so you know when slack water will be. Another bit of advice...get a colour one...I got a grayscale one and it can be hard to read in direct sunshine.

I enjoyed it so much I am going to whitby tomorrow if I can find a crew at short notice.

yeah it was a nice day,good weather as such,but the fish just didnt want to play ball.

Dave is it just me i am surprised at the lack of fish when going out on the boat. Went out twice on Maggie May recently and there was very little about. I suppose its now like shore fishing.
Have the trawlers really overfished everything.
I,ll be back out in August to try again-possibly have a run up to Whitby and take a cool bag.
The funny thing is i tried fishing for trout up the resevoir but its not the same.
Prefer the sea.

Well after todays trip to whitby I am starting to wonder where all the fish we were getting in may have gone.

11 Hours fishing, 7 hours forr tope..nothing.
3 Hours on the wrecks...whiting and scotchies...about ten of em.
Came back inside as the wind was picking up and the drift was touching 3 knots at times.

Went just off the beach at sands end for the last hour and had 11 dabs and 2 plaice in 18 foot of water for a nice finish to the day.

Well thats fishing!

Dave you hit the nail on the head i read somewhere if we caught fish all the time it would,nt be called fishing it would be called catching,
