Three of us headed out from Seaham yesterday with days off work to make the most of the summer season that's slipping away.
We headed out to wrecks first off in a snotty / lumpy sea, things were pretty slow all morning with the odd small fish now and then.
Things picked up for codfathersfather with his first fish of the day a nice ling weighing in at 20 lb spot on, caught on a bit of hard ground before low water
I struggled to get it in the net but managed to get it aboard eventually to a well happy and knackered codfathersfather
Me and Ste were still struggling for anything decent, then we were shown up again on the next spot of rough ground over low water with another ling to codfathersfather weighing in at 12.5 lb.
We managed the odd smaller fish over low water but it was slow going till we had a move onto a wreck when the tide started to move again.
From then on it was a fish a drop until we reluctantly headed back in with the light fading away and SE wind getting stronger.
Nothing massive, but great scrapping codling upto 5-6 lb fighting well on the shads, them 2-3 lb'ers can't half put up a scrap for their size
Sorry no pics of the cod fishing never had a chance, few pics of the ling from my phone.
20 lb'er
20lb & 12.5 lb
All in all a great day out, kept a few and put loads back.
