3 of us went out today, and fished just South of the River Wear. Fished the last 2 hours of the ebb, in which time we managed about 12 codling to 6lb. Lugworm tipped with frozen runny down been the best bait. Most fish were in the region of 2 - 2.5lbs.
We also fished the first 3 hours of the flood, but due to the direction of the wind going against the current, we struggled to stay in a static position, so we tried various other places, and ended up inside the piers. No more proper fish were caught, although there were 2 coalies and a pouting caught as well.
We did get out of the piers for another hour, but the fish didn't seem to want to play.
