If you read my last post you will know i went to bed the night before praying for the fog not be be awaiting me in the morning and guess what. No you guessed wrong the fog wasnt there it was a sunny day with no breeze at all fantastic conditions at last.

This time every body had turned up, 6 on board a nice number. We hit the mackeral straight away and had plenty within 20 mins and set off looking for the big one.

We worked quite a few wrecks working our way further a field, most of which produced just a few fish and nothing to write home about. At 2.00pm we decided to head for a location 12 mile out on rough ground.

First drop produced 4 small ling for those fishing mackeral droppers, I was fishing shad at time. So shad off ,Mackeral flapper on i was hoping to get down quick unfortunately braid got twisted around trace and spent 5 mins untaggling. In that time guy next to me hooked into something a bit bigger which ended op being a 19lb + ling. If only i had been fishing flapper when we hit the mark first time.

We took quite a number of good fish from the mark and lost quite a few. The problem was with no tide, bites were taking forever to build and we was running out of time for it to start.

Best fish for me on the day was a cod 6lb 4oz which spent 5 mins + mouthing the bait, patience was the key to hooking anything.

By 3.30 it was time to set off with two good ling to weigh 19lb and 16lb we didnt want to miss the weighing time. we had a few drops on wrecks on the way in but nothing.

Good days fishing shame we couldnt stay on the mark when we had a bit of tide, it probably would have produced a mamouth cod or ling.

Malcolm had come up trumps again 1st and 2nd on day and 3rd in the overall compettion. Spent the trip back in trying to persuade myself that it would be worth fishing tomoorow but didnt have the guts to ring my bosses up to say i was having another day off.
