Alittle belated however, the County House fishing club had it's annual weekend away at the end of May. 23 members (and guests) came along for the fun and is true county house style it was a weekend to remember. We arrived in Mevagissey on Saturday intime for our first day fishing on Sunday 28th.
We booked two boats for two days that would cover a range of Wrecking and hard ground fishing. Sunday started with me and my squad being placed on the Aquila, a tremendous boat with good skipper and crew.
We started drifting over a couple of wrecks with a couple of small pollack and pouting to show for it. As the tide dropped we decided drop the anchor to see what else was down there. I decided to have a go for Ling and Conger and was rewarded almost instantly with a nice conger approx 15lb.
The other lads changed their flowing traces & feathers and down went 12 flappers. The Congers obliged and for the next couple of hours there was always someone into a fish.
Along with the Congers there was some cracking ling caught aswell, best one can to the scales at 15lb.3oz for Terry Bolam. The best conger was landed by Brian Corkhill at 42lb and George Ross had one at 36lb.
Overall there was over 30 conger and ling caught with the majority of them returned (thank god for T bars!)
Along with the congers and ling, we also caught Pollock, Cookoo Wrasse, Herring, Pouting, mackerel, Dog's......)
Overall a cracking weekend and if anyone's planning a trip down to Mevagissy, look no further than the Aquila for a
cracking days sport!!
Pictures below
Flat as a witches...
Greedy wraaase!
Nice one Terry!
The lads keeping busy during the steam back in!
Corcky has caught a fish bigger than him!
Smile boys!
Cheers must go to Franky N for the organising of the away weekend!
A great weekend had by all (apart from Franky who fell over whilst walking to
the boat and never fished!)
Cheers
