Hi All,
From what was a very poor morning to a very good afternoon session.
We fished inshore wrecks and hard ground in the Seaham area with little to show apart from Mackeral and one Pollock so we headed offshore to some wrecks that we have not fished for some 3-4 yrs. All were around the 18-19 mile mark.
Using pirks and lead heads only, (to avoid the mackeral) we had the following between four of us.
1. Cod x 23 up to 9lbs
2. Ling x 2 up to 17lbs
3. Pollock x 2 up to 8lbs
4. Coalfish x 9 up to 6.5lbs
5. Numerous whiting up to 2.5lbs
6. Mackeral...lost count.
I think we now need to top up on our leadheads and pirks as we lost too many to mention,(Hint Hint Gary...?).
I think to catch the fish now you need to head offshore. Inshore wrecks have been "routed" by every Tom, Dick and Harry with a GPS !!
Great to see many boats out today.
Jeff.

Looks like you found the fish we headed down sunderland way then seaham but it was poor on the wrecks we fished, radio reports from other boats said the same.
well done.
Think that might be our last trip of the summer as Dave is working away the next weekend then moving house the next so dout we will get anymore trips out in september. If we do we are heading far north againas failed to get a double down south the last 2 weekends lol

Richy,
We'll start to bait fish the hard ground in earnest at the beginning of October. We do all our fishing North of the Tyne until at least December time when we will move to the Hendon area.
Like I said in the report you need to be off quite some way to get fish down south. Most wrecks produced at the 18-19 mile area.
