The Cowpen Queen 5/7/13

Earlyish finish from work today and I was out fishing by 4pm. Graham is away and with nobody to deputise it was a solo trip tonight.


I was out Monday night with a lad from work and it was a bit of a nightmare from start to finish. I managed to snap a rod, got my other rod out to find it had an eye snapped off, the wind was stronger than forecast and only 2 cod between us.

tonight was a different tale with my new rod section from sonik, nice flat sea, warm weather and a few cod. Biggest was 13lb 4oz followed by one of 11lb 8oz. lots of mackerel about as well.

managed a picture using the timer on my little camera!


The fish were caught on consecutive drifts which is a first for me. the bigger fish was hooked under the chin so put a cracking scrap, taking line off the reel. I though it was much bigger than it was until I saw where it was hooked!!



Total for the trip was 9 cod and a load of mackerel. My 2 trips this week couldn't have been more different, happy days!!

Cracking brace of fish, even better when you go out not expecting too much, especially after a nightmare trip, try explaining that to the lad from work!! Could be some good fish seen this weekend........ We hope!

Cracking size fish, it was a dream day to be at sea and you look like you had a good one also. We almost sank with the amount of fish we eneded up with..will do report later but none as big as your bad boy

No Colin it was my sonik 8-12lb class, caught it in the locker!!

Got a replacement straight away though.

When is the bob white comp??
