Out from 6 to 10 last night heading for the banker hard ground that fished well on Monday. What went wrong, not a fish was there this time? It just goes to show that no two days or tides are the same.
Off out to the wrecks where all I caught was a few small scotchies and whiting. It could all have been different on the first wreck though. I hooked something big and wound it 10 yards off the wreck before it turned and crash dived back down, stripping line off the reel just like big pollock do. Tightening the clutch right up stopped the dive but after getting a couple of yards of line back on the reel all went slack. The best fish wins; until next time.
Water was a lot clearer, even inshore where jellyfish were floating past, they’re usually closely followed by the mackerel turning up. Four miles off the Tyne the black back of a porpoise surfaced through sea turned golden by the setting sun; it made a cracking finish as heading home as I surfed back down the swells.
