Todays trip off was planned to be a polar oppostie from Mondays and at no point today were we more than a mile from the shore and no more than three miles North and South of the harbour entrance.
Off and out of the piers for five to be met with freezing cold drizzle and a snotty sea yself and Darren on-board.
First drift things brightened up a touch though with ths one on my 6-12lb class rod:
It was steady away until the tide started to slacken of so we went in search of some spotties! There had never been a plaice over TCQ's gunnels but that changed today with these:
We kept about five and I think we made it to double figuires in Plaice with a fair few dabs as well coming to the hooks.
Once the tide started to flow again it was off to the hard ground and a load of codling to baited flowing traces and twintails. The weather improved greatly as well and the hats and coats were shed!
A quick stop at a wreck for another couple of better cod on the way home. The water was still coloured today but definetly clearing up from Monday and no where near as green, inshore anyway.
Off again maybe Saturday, can't wait!
Graham.
