Have spoke to them today and can confirm that the celebrations lasted well into the night.

Ninga had 39 fish and 8 species, with the winner having 45 fish.
            Howitzer also won his boat.

thanks for the comments full results to be posted on the ps(uk) web site by end of week i believe.

recommend the fishing at orkney to anyone who is willing to drive the 8hours and sit on a ferry for 1 and a half hours.

The quality of the fish is something else the average size of the cod on the boat were around the 4-5lb mark with near doublers caught ling to 10lb pollock were averaging the 5lb mark with a couple hitting the 7-8lb mark.

Species included cod ling pollock coalfish b wrasse c wrasse dabs spur dog poor cod macky pouting haddock.

A range of tatics were used to catch fish amongst the 140 anglers including every kind of lure and ripper you have ever seen.

Personally used baited lures or just bait during the comp. The lad who won was using mainly lures and caught some excellent pollack sometimes 2 at a time.

The competion was ran on catch and release. with the angler on the boat who won being awarded 100% then the others on the boat being awarded a % of that anglers total depending on catch. The scores of the 4 man team are then added up to make the total. Thankfully the Northumbria tean had 3 boat wins and a third which give a total of 360%. 25points were awarded per species and 10 points per fish.

Giles/peter should have seens rays face. We l now have to put up with 30years of him talking about it lol!

That\'ll be another excuse he doesn\'t need to shut up. Who did he have to wrestle in the bar with since I don\'t fish the boats and wasn\'t there.

Spoke to him and he says that ninga, you are now nearly as good as him,but as he was once national champion and you came second then you have a little catching up to do,however he is impressed at the way his young apprentices have matured over the few years. :P
