  • returned my first big cod today

just shy of 9.5lbs ...I was fishing for maccie 1 mile off the gare when bang the rod bent double at first i thought it was a rope off a pot line but soon realised it was a good strong cod...anway when i got it in i thought it was only fair to return it ....as i was only fishing for maccie ...i felt great returning it but im not to sure now...i,m starting to think i was just daft to put it back (plus the wife gave me the old yeah righto look when i told her)......never mind it was a nice fish.

    well done you!

I know the feeling well, you put em back and minutes later start tinking, maybe I should of kept it for the pot!

I made a new rule for myself this year that owt that won\'t fit in the pan goes back, so went out and bought the biggest pan I could find

just need to catch something bigger to let go!

Well done Smoggie.....If only more would do the same there\'d be plenty off the shore in the winter!

thanks for all the above lads...makes me feel like i did the right thing..but ive had some stick over it.. ........Alan id rather keep this quiet thanks cos ive been ridiculed over it, the circumstances were jigging for mackerel on light tackle with 2 silver flashers half a mile of the south gare mid afternoon bright sunny conditions in about 35 foot of water just shows what can turn up doesnt it we were past by loads of boats heading for the horizon..anyway lads thanks again and i will return other big fish in the future...I,ll just keep it quiet thats all
