Not getting the finish I expected on the pirks, I think because the joint surfaces are so smooth it's totally sealed and air can't escape.
Any ideas?
I read a forum for making lead bullets and they talk of "smoking" the mould, presumably this gives a carbon coating.Cheers, Keith.

Keith
we used to coat ours with carbon, just a candle and hold the mould above it, let the soot from the flame coat each half.
When the pirks start getting difficult to remove again then do it again.
hope it helps
