      No worries

I was just shocked to see Richie was possibly thinking of giving up boating after how many posts he does all year long but this has been one very long winter.

Something along the lines of a 6.5 mt boat up to 7mt jeanneau or benneteau, or even a ocqueteau

Needs to have either a suzuki or yamaha engine or inboard as they are the only ones that I can get serviced easily at Hartlepool, it will be a pity as the etec is great but there isnt a decent dealer anywhere near and trailering is going to be out.

All top quality boats , my 635 with the inboard Nanni was a very stable boat on the drift and at anchor, and excellent on the juice...

                  Do you.....

A.....Forget about the boat and do something else...

B.....Get out there and give it a go, as being afloat and chilling out isnt all about being guaranteed fish....

C.....Do some jobs on the boat

For me it would be B followed by C....

Algae bloom, poor results, fuel prices all come into play, but if the wrecks arent fishing, for me its just as good anchoring up half a mile out on rough ground dropping a bait over the side and putting my feet up..

Wreck fishing is great....no doubt about it, but for me me owning a boat opens up a host of different fishing situations that can be taken advantage of all year round.....

Whats your opinion......all year round....or wrecking only for 5 months...

B & C Equally .......... I'll try not to get drawn into this thread ........ but will almost certainly fail

Just as a footnote, Tony and I had an absolutely wonderful day on the boat on Saturday .............
Never left the berth, modified some shad tails to provide wonderful swimming action when pulled through the marina water, fixed a long required slow oil seepage, totally cleaned the bilge from top to bottom you could almost drink it now, checked my new engine mounts for size and recorded measurements of heights for future use (first sunny but windy weekend to come), then topped it off with a slightly achoholic drink amidst a good crack on with Micky from Cowpen Queen ..................... class, and not a fish in sight ...................................... Rich, your missing something!

Nanni engines are not the modern day types with electronics all over the shop etc but good on juice and solid lumps just what you need for the harshness of the sea.....my Arvor has the Nanni 4.22 engine in and it is a solid lump, easy to work on.

Not in order of new boats i would have.......

                      Ocqu 625
Arvor 215 (not with VW engine)
Arvor 225 (not with VW engine)
                      Antares 5.8
                      Merry Fisher 625

Like the inboard engines more but not against the outboard...the idea of a trailor boat is as always an idea, i do like the idea of taken it to the Mull, down the south coast for Bass or far north Scotland for the Skate.

Great reply Norm using Slinky as a sort of " DIY, Community Centre, Public House" establishment is a great idea...

Just goes to show you can get a lot of satisfaction from your boat, without wetting a line .....Apart from shad trials that is...

                          Richy/Sean,

Have you had a look at the new bigger version of the Marlin 6, the Marlin 755? They have addressed the access problems by fitting another door. I said I wouldn't be buying another boat for a good while as I am chuffed with the QS 640 but this Marlin 755 looks amazing! Once a few are bought in a couple of years time and long term reviews are in, a decision will have to be made by me and Micky!

                          Graham.

                            Hi Graham

Yes i have seen it but at 50k its a little out of range at the moment lol lol have you also seen the quicksilver copy of it?

My 585 marlin is an awsome boat and it does nearly 30 knots and cruises at 18 all day long and gives me just over a mile per litre so it going to be very hard to beat. it handles the sea fantastic and the 90 ETEC pos it onto the plane with sheer ease.

I have had it valued but i may have to change the electronics as the spec i have is over 5k and it wont make much difference in the value if i replace with cheap stuff

Oh well i will keep looking he he

I can not believe they have gotten way with that Sean! It is a direct copy and rip of off the Marlin! I wonder how much they will be when released????
                              Interesting!

                              Cheers,

There is about 7k in it as the quicksilver is cheaper, but your right its almost an identical copy. but the hull does have a difference I am informed, what that will be who knows but if its like my mates 580 against my 585 marlin then it will be different.

But I am supprised they have done it, shocking really
