  • Multi-Hook Pirk & Lure Rig

Well, over the last couple of days I have been trying to make up some Multi-Hook Pirk & Lure Rigs.
I am looking at the Step by Step guide to Bait & Rigs by Sea Angler mag, and try as I might, I just can\'t get the hang of making a blood loop by looking at the pictures.
Is there an easy way to do this ?
Has anybody here got or viewed the Sea Angler Mag video of Step by Step rigs ? and if so, does it show you how to do a blood loop on that ? I am assuming that it would be much easier to do if I could watch somebody do one rather than just look at pics.

For the moment though I guess I will have to keep trying

I had the same problem until one of the guys in Bennetts (Sheffield) showed me how to tie it. Thing is it\'s actually really simple once you\'ve seen it done. I know this doesn\'t help!

This is how I do it, so it probably make no sense at all!

I usually have something in front me, to loop the line around, normally one of the little knobs on the back of my kitchen chairs.

so with a length of mono in my hands I hook it over the chair. I now have a short bit in one hand and the rest in the other. Take the short bit over and through the loop to the chair to form simple overhand knot with one turn, loop it through twice more.

Hand 1 is holding the short bit the rest is in hand 2. Place a finger from hand 2 in between the loop and short length, and add three more turns. Yout finger should now be trapped half way between the 6 turns in the main loop.

If you remove your finger ther should be a gap between the turns. Pull the main loop off of whatever you hooked it over (ie the back of my chairs) and pas this through the gap where your finger was.

At this point you can either grab the big loop with your gob, or put it back over the chair/whatever. Pull the short end and other end tight and it should all slide up nicely.

Move the whole thing along about 18\" and start again.

      Hope that makes sense!

      I\'ll see if Ican\'t draw a diagram

Once you get the hang of it its a doddle. Make all my own daylights/lures myself now. Gift ribbon that you wrap your christmass pressies in is perfect for daylights, add a few strands of tinsel as well!

Whipping em onto hooks is fairly simple as well.

I struggle with them too MK, a bit of practice works the magic. Don\'t ask Ant to show you how to tie knots though.
                Me \"Ant show us a Bimini Twist\"
                Ant \"OK\"
A blur of fingers thumbs and a kneecap came into view at some stage
                Ant \"There you go pal\"
Me \"Oh, easy as that then\"
                Some time later
Me \"Err Ant could you cut me out of this please\"
                Ant \".........\"
                Me \"ANT, ANT?\"
                Some time even later
Our Lass \"Oi Oi, what\'s gan on here then, has young Anthony been round again?\"

with a bit of practice you can tie it with out attatching it to something. you take your line holding in each hand form a loop you should have the loop to the top with two lines running parallel to each other between your hands loosen one of them by pulling with your teeth then push this one around the other one with your thumbs you will naturally end up with the loop that you pull the big one through pull big one through moisten the loops with your mouth then pull tight holding the pulled through loop in yer teeth and tugging on the two free ends.
                  simple like.
