The first North East Kayak Angling Championships organized by the Angling Trust are taking place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2013. This looks as if it is going to be a massive event and could well establish the north east as a major Kayak competition venue. Being fished on a heaviest fish basis, Saturday’s winner will receive a Typhoon Angler Kayak, donated by Moonfleet Angling, the Sunday winner a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 Kayak donated by North East Kayaks and Paddles, there will also be a prize’s for heaviest flatfish and Junior prize each day. Plus an excellent prize List each day, sponsored by Lewis Tackle, Vass; Boat Fishing Monthly; Shimano; Tronix Pro; Fladen; Kayak Shack, Simon Everett, and many more to be confirmed. Fishing on both days 10 am to 3 pm, Registration from 8am, and weigh at Fort House Education Resource Centre, Links Road, South Beach, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 3PQ. Entry is £10 each day, all classes. Competitors can launch from the Boat House, Whitley Bay, Blyth Beach and Church Point, Newbiggin. After a safety talk at 9.30 am, and Kayak safety inspection.
