    Boat Reel

TLD15 Seem's to be the No1 choice of the majority of anglers on here.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught

For shadding i would be looking at a higher retrieve rate, something like a slosh 30, penn 535, avet or a daiwa saltist all have 6:1 to 1 retreives

            I'm erring towards even a 525 with 30lb fine braid this year...maybe?
            Ooh a new vid!

Tony try a 535/slosh 30 and watch them all start changing as yor catch rate will go up!

So a Slosh30 is sufficient for boat, would I be better of with a 50?

I'll be using my Abu 7000i for shadding

It is - however I would only be using it to supplement my main fishing reel...which is a TLD 15.

Given the choice of buying either I'd plump for the TLD

30 and 535 fine for light boat work

use them for jigging in the north sea and end up with a pile of scrap metal

tld will cover all situations and still be functioning next season.

                      stevo changed my mind

The 3 reels i use on the boat are, 535 x 1 and 525 x 2, they are great for shadding and wrecking, i reckon the stick these reels get pulling in fish through kelp and snaggs off the shore, they are more than capable of pulling fish up vertically, they have high retrieve rate...but dont wind so fast when you have a fish on. When you dont have a fish on wind like hell and it flys back up to the surface for the next drift Just a personal choice but i cant see the point of huge reels to fish our waters...

Hi bestnest tld15 are good reels but they do have an issue with their bearings. The abu 7000 and slosh seem to be better options.

So you only use a Penn 525 on the boat ?
Would never of thought possible. But your comment makes me think like.

I used a 525 on my first trip on the JFK and struggled, I wouldnt recommend using one on a boat
