    Been down Marina Today (31st Dec), noticed the Boys wasn`t in the river , you lucky Bu**ers. River looked fine, no wind up so expexct today the sea will be flat, have a good un bert,keith and the boys let us know your catch.
    No chance of anyone in marina getting out, it`s frozen thick. Worst I`ve seen it to date, Ice hard up against the hulls, theres usually a pool around the boat where movement stops the Ice build up but not this time. I`ve been out before and just motored through the Ice build up but at the moment I`d just scratch the gel coat its so bad.
    Started motor but even the raw water system must have been frozen in places, no flow of water through system and just pressure leaks in safety valve on pump so had to even quit that !
    Have a good day lads, see ya later

    ps Dave, Dollys looking good ....... but frozen as well, stop at home in the warm

    By the way , whats the story behind IanS and his engine service?

      Poacher was raw water cooled straight thru the block and I used to run some anti-freeze mix thru it in the winter . The volvo is heat exchanged as normal thru a raw water cooler , just wondering after Norman\'s post if it\'s worth putting anti-freeze in the raw water system ?

      Anyone use a de=humidifier on board over the winter ?

        No point in anti-freeze in raw water system Dave its open ended, draws in thru the hull and spits out with exhaust so any anti-freeze you injected would just wash away in seconds. Benefit of heat exchanger over the way poacher was cooled is that no salt water ever hits any part of the engine block and so cuts down on any corrosion, the salt water just comes in and washes around heat exchanger under no pressure and cools the fresh water system which then in turn cools the engine.
        Its unusual to have raw water system freeze because its usually very salty and needs about -5C before it starts to go. Also there is usually very little water in it to freeze because its not a sealed system and drains when then engine is stopped It was just such a cold night last night that any water left in the pipes around the pump had froze ....... no problems by the way I`ll just have a quick look at the impeller next time I`m down.

        c`mon Bob , whats IanS story?

          Just got back in Norman, We tried Location X first and got nowt, headed south and got nowt, then fished the harbour where we got one codling and one undersize whiting between the three of us.

          Still, I enjoyed the trip out as usual despite the freezing cold, Thanks again Bert!

          Cheers, Keith.

                  Aye Norman, it was starting to turn nasty around 12.0pm, that\'s why we fished the river. Looking a bit bleak is Dave\'s planning a trip out at the weekend.

                  btw,

                  Keith = 2lb Codling
                  Kenny = whiting
                  Bert = ....erm wasn\'t gonna say owt like, but he won\'t read this till he\'s back at work .

                  Makes a change mind as you well know he\'s normally first to shout for the net.

                  All the Best fot The New Year!
                  Cheers, Keith.

                    Norman,

                    Just checking on the anti-freeze situation before I ended up in the Engineering \"Stocks\" for dropping another bollock , as you know the boating motto \"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story\"has deminished many a reputation on here . That right TC :P

                    Do you use a dehumidifier Then Norman ?

                      LOL I can see you in Powerhouse asking Mike for some antifreeze to keep your raw water system clear ............... here`s a 40gal drum it should last you an hour or so LOL.........

                      never bothered with de humidifier Dave, dont seem to get much damp (or any in fact) all the internals are always dry, no condensation at all.

                      Ocqueteau ...... made to fish.

                      Instructions

                      3. Fish
                      4. Fillet (well sometimes )
                      5. Turn off engine
                      6. Go Home.

                      well, I got to be honest, it has been good to me so far.

                        Dave, Norman, Have you\'s seen this months Boat Fishing magazine yet.
                        There is a write up/boat test on the 615. Altough the boat tested had a outboard fitted and not a diesel it still got a hell of a write up,

                        Cheers,

                        Marc
