Since I bought my gas collar life jackets, I have never had them tested to see if all the gas is still in them. How often do yous have yours checked and where!
If they are down on pressure, do you get them re-charged, or do the cartridges have to be changed. They must be about six years old by now, I have 4 to check.

The RLNI do a safety day at the Royal Quays and do it for "free" i always put a £20 in they will check them over, do a cord and gas check etc...i will let you know when they doing it this year, often start of the season so around April time.

Mine are 3 years old now so will also be looking at re-gassing them etc, i have purchased about £260 worth of extra safety gear over the winter due to some of the distances we have been going in 2012, no help when 15-27 miles out i tell you and in my boat its a good 2hr run back....hoping not to need to do it this year and have a bumper year close in

Yer you only had 1 day out in the year but you picked a nice day weather wise with sun and flat sea, the snow today makes the season seem further away than last weekend thats for sure.
