But, could this be a sign for the coming season, does the fact that there are twice as many gulls around as usual (and they have been gorging on mussel) does it mean theres lots of food around or at least the signs that we mere mortals cannot read are telling the gulls there'll be lots of food soon ....... lets hope so .....

good to see a few boats getting out to test the way, hope you had a good day Kev

not be long now .... just 4 or 5 more wash and polish to go

Cheers Norman, the marina is springing back to life and a few boats were out. It may be a sign of things to come but not yet; it wasn’t a sign of good fishing today.
The weather forecasters tell us that winter is just around the corner again, I think I found it half a mile offshore where the wind was strong and biting, that’s the only thing that was.

I wanted to get out to run the engine up to temperature, so took along a few lug worm for the ride. I’m sure if I tried custom built shads the fish would have queued up

You’re right about the wash and polish, the boats were filthy, covered in a layer of fine dust and stuff that's going to take some shifting from the decks.

No chance Duncan; it was the wrong colour, no reds, blues and oranges or glitter in sight.

I would hate to live in them hosues next to the marina, when the ferry fires up it just covers everything with the coal dust, my fish well looked like a block of tarmac before i cleane dit after 4 months of dust building up.

Wont someone thing of the washing line

Aye Ray theres a few sweet spots around there mainly early spring - easters my guide, especially as its fairly late this year.
With all the shad making I couldn't resist a special St Marys' lure, it's a grub curly tail that I used to be able to get in the right size and colour but havn't seen them around for a while so ....... make my own the models done and the first half mould is curing as I type fingers crossed it's as good as the ones I used to buy....
