  • Norway Summer 2014

We have decided to achieve a goal we have had since taking up boat fishing - a week long boat fishing holiday in Norway. I know next summer is a long way off, but we like to be organised!

We have looked around and think Skarnsudet looks good. Reasonably easy access from Trondheim Airport by train and taxi with no need to hire a car. Good accommodation, nice boats, freezer facilities and a competitive price.

As we are just two people we are looking for another two to join us, as they don't really do holidays for just two. So if anyone on here is interested on a week long boat fishing trip to Norway get in touch. We can go from the start of July up to and including the 2nd week of August.

My partner is Lynn, but she is a fairly experienced boat angler and can more than hold her own.

Get in touch if you are interested.

I have done loads of research on Norway the past 2 years for boat fishing, let me know your 1st and 2nd choice before you book, IMO only one area to fish from the boat in Norway...also dont rule out Iceland, it is up and comming and will over take Norway soon as the main destination for boat fishing.

Expect to spend about £1200 all in per person but if you get the weather the fishing and the experiance is well well worth it.

I am looking for some sort of trip for 2014 but am preferring much further North around the Tromso area.
I went to Skarnsundet couple of years back and we had use of a boat from Phil the guide. It was top dollar. We were there in Feb 2011.

I am going every year as long as i am still working but i maybe tempted by Iceland in 2014 from what i am hearing and reading about it, thou the price would increase by maybe £200 per person.

Thanks for both posts lads. We are looking at Skarnsundet, because of price, ease of travel to and from and also taking a first tentative step into Norway. If we like it we will perhaps venture further north the next time.

Rich - hope we can pick your brains when we come down in April, you have obviously done your homework.

Mick - It is Phil we are looking at. Any thoughts on your trip there gratefully received.

No probs ask me what you wish, spent loads of time from what food you can take in, what airline lets you take what, rod tube prices, lures, rigs etc it fills the winter months in

Not been to south Norway but alot of good reports still from that area and like you say much cheaper and not the 12-16hr trek to Tromso area and much further north (where we go)

I'm off to Skarnsundet in July for 5 days boat fishing we choose this area as the pollack fishing and plaice fishing is superb we are not after big Cod even though its possible to get them 45lb + in the area and the weather wont cause you many problems as its a very sheltered area.I will have done a 5 days shore fishing and 5 days boat fishing for the price of 1 week up north on the boat and still have change.
I'm not a boaty so i wouldn't spend that sort of money heading north but its all down to what you want to catch and money you have to spend.
                    Cheers Nicky

Good luck Kayos, hope yous have a good trip, although it's a long way off just now.

Rich, I'm off to Iceland in June this year, mainly shore fishing, but have been told we could get some boat fishing free thrown in by letting the skipper keep the catch. We, that's three of us, are going to Brimnes in the north with Steve Mason for a week. Hoping for good weather and plenty fish.
