My fuel tanks were kept either side of the bilge Chris, I can't remember where the battery was though, the tanks had holding straps attached to the deck but I didn't use them , it took too long to untie them to switch tanks, I ran out of fuel half way up the river one day and was really glad I didn't have to fiddle with straps to change over to the other tank. They never moved about , sat at the back of the boat in their bays was the place with least bounce on the boat.

          Hi Ray,

Just got back from fitting the angles to the bilge cover....defrosting my fingers on a cuppa...
I notice there are compartments for your tanks to sit in, these aren't on my Explorer....
With the bilge pump being in the sump, it meant that the space round it was wasted, anything put in there might knock the pump off its mounting, so i covered it over and utilised the space above it.
The 2 tanks in the middle and a battery either side was the best way of keeping the balance about right i thought, i'm hoping its out of balance during the summer though, due to a large full fish box
The main battery is on a shelf under the r/h gunnel behind the transom Ray, it would have been a good idea if they had put one on the l/h side as well...

Yep, I remember now, I can see the corner of he shelf in my pic, the bilge on mine was also open, I made a cover for it as well, but not as posh as yours looks I didn't have a spare battery.
By the way, the boat didn't always look that filthy, it was taken out of he marina and cleaned e ery now and again

Strange though it may seem, the bigger boat is easier to clean than the explorer was, I was down the marina over the Christmas break cleaning her, it's amazing how dirty a boat gets just sitting doing nothing.

She's looking good Chris, not too long now. In fact, the next settled spell of weather should see you out giving it rock all hope it's sooner rather than later.

Not very good secrets Chris, anchor, 2 rods and reels, 2 flapper lug baited hooks, and braided line, lightest sinker I can get away with, half descent tide, and a pinch of ski... I mean luck simmer for a few minutes, then strike that's all there is to it
