Strange bait request

Well i am going skate fishing in a couple months time and this year i have kept no full mackerel for bait and fear it will cost about £35 for a box that i could of caught in 10mins in the summer.

Anyway if anyone catches any Octopus or coalies between 1lb-2lb please hang onto them for me and i pick them up, both baits just as good as mackerel thou will still need to get a few full mackerel from the shops nearer the time.

Should of added 8 coalie and 1 octopus will do.....as i doubt anyone will catch 25 mackerel in the next 6 weeks

where are you based, i have a couple of fair size mackerel in the freezer which will not be best eating since they have been there since september time.

A normal 2 day skate trip will require

6-8 full coalie
1 octopuss full
20 full ungutted mackerel


That often does a weekend as you use two full fish a drop but only change the bait about every 1hr 1/2

have you tried morrisons there mackerel are full not gutted last time I bought some got six full mackral for about six amd a half quid canny size ones go in later in day better price
