Ha Ha LOL Keith its not luck mate ............. he`s a natural (don`t tell im though )

codfather, big bait on the wrecks produce ling. main method is one long trace (about 6-8ft) with an 8/0 hook and a full mackerel fillet. However if you fish anything with big bait over wrecks you should get into ling, try 5 or 6 /0 daylights with squid bodies tipped with rag.
Better if there`s mackerel about but i fear they may be thin on the ground by now.

If anyone went out today, what was the sea state like? Fore cast looks a bit better for tomorrow, might get out if it\'s not too rough.

It was a bit bumpy early on Phil, we only stayed out 1/2 an hour, hangovers all round! looks a lot flatter now though.
                      Cheers, Keith.

Just got back from hartlepool and it is flat as anything at the moment and the wind seems to have dropped it is about 3mph at the moment (not the forecast 14).

look here for the wind www.xc.weather.co.uk

Had a look down the pool earlier this morning but it was a bit to choppy for our boat.
Managed a few ours out yesterday morning (friday), the mackerel were still their in huge numbers, could have filled the boat. A load of whiteys and a loanly 2 to 3 lb codling was the total bag.

Went out today, fishing about 2 to 3 mile off between St.Marys and Blyth harbour. Left at about 11am and back in at 3.30. It was a bit lumpy exiting the harbour, but once we were out it was ok. Bit of a swell, but the boat we were in was stable.

We ended up with a bucket of Mackeral, Whiting and 2 cod - best at about 5lb.

                            cheers
