  • Breaking dawn Newbiggin by the sea .19/12/17

Couple hours bait fishing at anchor , lovely calm morning with the wind picking up a bit on paddle back , hugged the shore skimming the kelp on way back in round the point . Baited with lug, mussel and squid codlings taking all baits . A better stamp of fish than of late .

Few photos from an canny little session.

Love this time of the morning , magical.

    Few for the pot .

Hi Dave, well done for giving it a go and given there was four of us you did much better than we did, we were fishing a mile or so off the church point and we saw your yak inside. We were on the drift but it was a big tide and the sea was rather grubby so perhaps we would have been better on the anchor. We did manage a few but nowt of any size although it was great to get out cos it's been a while. It got a very breezy very quickly and we had to put our drogue out but I noticed you'd gone before it got too bad.
Going to give it a go again tomorrow probably off St Mary's but could head further North, light Westerlies forecast and not too cold so may see you out there.

Aye Tony was wondering if that was you , saw same boat on that drift on a previous session , thought you were doing well when yous were repeating a similar drift .The drogue must make a big difference in that boat i know it certainly does in the yak . Was a bit of a slog paddling on way in , timed it for slack water to return , yes just good to get out for a fix lol. Does look good next couple days but unfortunately cant make it , we have our kayak x/mas meet on sat at Newbiggin but the forcast not looking auspicious at the moment. Happy fishing the morn .
