lot of people started using them in 2011/12 so sure some will know where to get the bits, i have tried them once and dont rate them so sticking with the trusted treble...catch rate i would say is lower with assist but snagging wreck is also lower...from what i have seen fishing shoulder to shoulder with people on ym boat

If i recall right Dunk, 2012 was the year of the assist hook, but never saw any reports for them.
Small rings off Ebay, and the cord at a chandlers i reckon

Do search as this was covered last year, might be some answers for you..

Bricklayers nylons line will do the cords , the rings are supposed to be stainless solid rings, but ordinary split rings from a tackle shop will do the job , bit of shrink tube to stiffen it all up and away you go, pain in the aris if you ask me

            Assist Hooks

Fished using them 2011-2012 and can't say personally I was impressed either with the catch or snag free rate.
Try Planet Sea Fishing Digital Magazine there's some sound advice on how to go about making your own.

I've used a thick para cord and oval split rings , but get shrink tube off mr shrink on eBay , they work a treat and are cheap as chips also get the circle hooks from the states , try searching world wide for ya hooks from USA a lot cheaper than here even with the postage ,
There's a few sites showing how to make them but this it canny step by step

Same as previous comments dunk in that I got loads of cord and rings from ebay ....... as has been said not a lot of reports of catches ... however , personally I think thats down to the season and not the hooks.
Maybe if we'd tried then a year earlier it would have been a whole different view, so for me, they are still on the cards for 2013 ...."the year of the fish" ....... in slinky terms that is ATB mate

2013 lucky for some and "All i want for xmas" is it be lucky for us boat anglers in 2013

I will take good weather few fish
I will take bad weather lots of fish
I will take good weather and lots of fish

But what i dont want is bad weather few fish i.e 2012

Sorry off topic...yer try them next year bad test in 2012 as a ship mine blown up over a wreck would only result in the odd 3-5lb fish floating up this year.

Would never buy the ready made ones, too expensive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I just use hooks of choice and the hanging twine the lads use for rigging gillnets, last time I bought some it was from Caleys on the quayside. I have also used courilyne without any problems and it gets the hooks to stand off from the pirk etc !!!!!!!!!!!!.
Everything is expendable down there !!!!!!!!!!!

Use them all the time, never used a treble for three years now. Make them myself with octopus hooks 6/0 or 8/0, braided twine I got off ebay for flying kites (tried builders stuff but melted with heatshrink) and use a swivel instead of those overpriced rings. I would reckon a treble will catch slightly more but on the other hand the assist is easier for bait, doesn't tear holes in the fish and reduces losses a lot (time putting a new rig on over a mark).
When I started using them the hardest part was changing from something tried and tested in the treble, to something new which might not work with the assist. Personal choice for each angler, worth a try and decide what you prefer.
