had the boat ready to go out from Newbiggin this mornin but as a lad was coming in on his rib he told us how he was knocked overboard by a wave... we decided against it... he had his waders on when he went overboard and he was out by himself..(not very cleaver) was lucky for him it was a rib and the wind blew it towards him he grabbed the rope on the side or it could have been a very diferent story!!!
Seen another lad I know down there who had a fish for 28lb last year he said he had one that was nearly double the size of it last week and when he tried to gaff it he lost it ..said it was some fish !!there have been three other local lads from newbiggin have hooked into a fish of a similar size in the last fortnight and lost it ...one of the lads had his reel on full lock and it was still takin line off....the lad who went out (and overboard)on the rib had said he went out yesterday and had 15 cod the biggest was 20lb ...
