Gents, I need to share something with you. I've always been a bit sniffy when choosing braid and would only ever buy the expensive brands such as PowerPro, Whiplash etc.
In May I fished Norway and one of the lads was using "Spectra" braid which literally stopped the boat on the rare occasions that he got snagged. During the course of our boating season off the North East coast he continued to use the same braid because there was no deterioration and again he would hold the boat against the drift when he became snagged. Having gone through a couple of spools of expensive braid, I enquired where he bought this "Spectra" braid and was informed that he purchased it on-line through ebay at £7.50 for 300m with free postage from China.
I've always felt that hell would freeze over before I bought anything from China but having seen first hand how good the stuff seemed to be, I figured it was worth risking £7.50 to see for myself. I simply typed in Spectra Braid on ebay and ordered some from a seller called "agepochfishing". The braid duly arrived about three weeks later from Hong Kong and ya know what, theres a lot more than 300m on the spool, I've used it, it's spot on quality, I've caught lots of fish and I've since ordered several more spools.
I don't know how they can sell it at £7.50 with postage free from Hong Kong but for fishing wrecks and rough ground you cannot go wrong.
