  • Seaham Marina.

I had a ride down the marina today ( 10 mins away ) and met Norman who is in charge, really nice bloke and a fisherman as well, so he understands our needs. This isnt a marina which is run by a money hungry consortium or the like, it is there for the people of Seaham to enjoy, no just boat owners but the public as well. It isnt fully open to the public yet, until all the amenities are there, but they are starting to berth the boats now.
I had a look round and was impressed with the facilities, so i filled in the application form and i'm hoping to be in within a month, once the boat is antifouled and a bilge pump fitted.
The price for my boat which is 5.5m is £990 a year, which includes the use of electric and water, of which the cables and hoses are supplied by the marina. The space between the pontoon fingers on the opposite pontoons is huge, great for manoevring onto the berths.
It will be spot on for me being so close, during the summer i can be down there and out fishing within 30mins of getting in from work.
Just wish the summer was here now...

Sounds great Chris, unfortunately the boat season seems a mighty long way away just now. Our first trip is out of Amble on April 6th, a mere 161 days from today
2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .

        Oops sorry Chris.

No snow here, it has been beautiful all week, if a tad chilly. Mind you it has clouded over in the last hour and I said to Lynn "Hope it doesn't snow!"

Martin, If the water level drops below 1.5m the gate will shut till it rises again.
On a neap tide it wont be closed for long.
Norman said there will be a radio channel to keep in touch with the marina, if you were unsure if the gate was going to close or not, but its not like they would just lock you out without warning. The gate was shut today to stop any swells entering the moorings....

Which is your boat mate, i was amazed at the amount of room down there and like you say Norman was great seems like a marina run by anglers for anglers which makes a nice change...
