could anyone give a ballpark figure of how much you would be looking at on a strict budget for the bare essentials to get fishing? really considering it for next year as I could join all you's lot out on the water :-)

2nd hand prices on a budget with basic set up but including safety gear and drysuit. £750 - 800. you sometimes can get great deals when someone sells there whole setup as one especially around winter and xmas.

Vhf? Of course, time of my post (must have been tired). Sorry beano. And the battery is a completley sealed motocycle battery 7.2 ah 12v. Needed one quickly so just went to local bike shop and bought a brand new one, it came with a datatool charger so i thought it was a good price.

You will know allot more than me mate. Like i say ive only just got into it. Went down the local rivers etc practiced falling out, and getting back on, self righting the yak, etc. Didnt like fitting the finder theres something that feels a bit wrong when drilling holes in something that keeps you afloat :O. I'm constantly learning, and any advice would be greatly apreciated mate. Only been out on it fishing a hand full of times. Not far from shore, just figuring out whats best to have where, and how to make my life easier.

Plan for future is to maybe go out with some lads and be able to see how they set their yaks up etc. But thats for the future. Like i say, total novice talking. All i had to go on was the whitbyseaanglers site. And advice on anglers afloat.

Great yak, i started with a manta ray but soon got the T11, had to go with around 11 due to storage space in my shed / yard.
Not been out much this year due to new arrival/ converting loft but get along to one of the meets listed on AA site, good bunch of lads with tons of advice plus have a go of different yaks before you buy
