Aye Ian, well done mate great fish ... I was going to post that the pics were corrupt (and not show them until the following day) ........ LOL but that would have been a bit OTT ....... I wouldn`t do that would I ???
here it is , and the catch report written below it ...... (seems we were amongst the few who scored today)
Nice one Ian, a great 12-1/2 lb cod off an inshore wreck .... (somewhere near you LOL)
Catch Report :-
Slow start , tried 5 mile wrecks first and thought to try small daylites for mackerel just in case, but found I couldn`t get more than 15ft down before all hooks were full of small herring (about 8\" - 10\" long). Tried several times to get through to look for mackerel but same every time so kept 10 or so for bait for later and gave up on the mackerel.
In fact gave up on the wreck there was nothing taking but the structure itself in the fast drift.
Went to inshore wrecks and began to catch (or at least I did LOL) got 4 decent cod to 6lb then decided to go to newbiggin for the last hour of the upcoming tide.
Caught a few (and so did Ian thank goodness) but all were around the 2lb mark. Wind turned South Easterly so decided better to get back. Spent the last couple of hours top of tide over an inshore wreck where we caught several to 5lb between us and Ian hit into the biggie shown above.
ended up :- (see pic below)
loadsa herring - went back or for bait
about 10 scotchies (all big) - went back
12 cod (maybe 13) 2 lb to 6 lb with the big one at 12-1/2lb
Once again, well done Ian mate ! congrats.
