  • New Rod Recommendations?

I am after a new 10/12-20lb rod and was wondering what everyone else is using? So far I have had a look at the Penn waveblaster evo's( i have already got three in different ratings), sonik SK4's and the fladen solid carbon red.
I am a bit confused as to what to plump for as mainly it will be for shadding rather than use with a pirk which I will use a heavier-ish rod for. I'm planning on matching it with a Fin Nor marquesa 16 which I have recently aquired.

    Cheers,

    Graham.

I'm opting for an sk3 to go with my tld5 in the 12-20lb range for shadding
    Ooh a new vid!

Get a tank aerial to go with yer goggles Graham , sorry , forgot, you won't need goggles any more with that nice comfy wheelhouse
I think my rod is a daiwa Kenzaki , so far I like it , I'm getting used to the avet reel now as well , nearly lost a couple of fish trying to adjust the drag though , lever too far too quick when a fish is pulling hard and whoosh

I use sk4 Graham, good rod but be carefull pulling mackerel in cos the tip can snap! I also have a solid carbon, it'll bend double, great rod but finish and eyes not as good quality as the sonik, not much in it I'd say.

Same as Tony Sonick sk3 12-20lb. Plenty tip action and beefy through middle to but section, a delight to use.
            See you out there soon.

I use a Tubertini gorilla 500 which is an amazing rod used it for general, rough ground, wreck and uptiding. A little different to the norm but an exceptional rod.

I have got the penn waveblaster in 6-12, 20-30 and 30-50 and just fancied something different. I was looking at the Fladen as they are 8 foot which I was thinking would be more help when bouncing a shad rather than reeling but who knows? Just to put a little more action into the lure??
Micky has got the Sonik SK4 and really likes that so I might have a go with his before I jump!

                Thanks Again,

                Graham.

The only thing I didn't like about the green and red Fladens was the build quality...the blank itself is a dreamn

I have used an uptider for shadding. Much prefer it to a std 7-8ft rod.
