I have been sent a scanned document that indicates that Peter Stubbs, skipper of Sapphire, is licenced by the Sea Fish Industry Authority to command an under 16.5m fishing vessel beyond 20 nautical miles from a safe haven.
There are many ways to become a legitimate charter skipper and another charter skipper has told me that this is one way. In fact, he even stated that this licence is more involved than the usual RYA routes, as it probably involved segments on firefighting, etc.
Obviously, any charter boat itself needs to be coded accordingly, and insured. I believe that these are usually indicated on the vessel itself, but I'm sure any skipper would be happy to provide proof of this if you were concerned.
There has been enough said on here about this matter now and, as far as NESA is concerned, the matter is closed. Please do not start any more threads on it.
Thank you
