Hi lads,just got a load of large prawns reduced from tesco doing the big shop,are they any good for baiting hokkais and daylights,or should i stick to rag and mackerel,if anyones had any success please advise,will be fishing inshore for pollack and cod off st abbs

I would/nt bait hokkias or daylights just use normal hooks as you will have more success as its just like fishing with crab m8.
We went out of Amble last year. Daylites tipped with prawn was all that was catching, and guess what? We didn't have any! Lesson learned. Definitely try it!

Cotton?? No just daylites with prawns on hook, still in shells
sorry mate,hehe i meant elasticated cotton to secure it on the hook,the shell option is intersting hadnt thought of that, i remmember getting a clip round the napper from an ageing fishing club member why the lobster he just caught of the shore off craster wasnt pinkstupid is as stupid does

Yeah I knew you meant elastic. No need to, just hook them. Don't know if the shell makes a difference, but that's what anglers were using out of Amble. We went to Asda bought them, worked a treat out of the Tyne.
I had a 14lb cod from the shore at St Abbs on asda cooked prawn, along with a 7lber to.... just last year. Well worth a try in my opinion. The boat lads swear by them and I've seen some old guys using them at Craster on the boat......they caught twice as many fish as me!!!! lol

jv put a thread on the other site mate,if ive done my calculations right it works out cheaper than bought peeler,i try to collect my own but the weather is so crap at the moment i dont think im going to get a molt at eyemouth to collectsee you on the other side hehe will post
