  • East Coast Angling

    Hi there!

My name is Sarah Aftergood, I am a Masters student at Newcastle University and I am doing a Masters project on the abundance changes of certain warm water fish species along the East Coast of the UK. I have attached a survey that I have drawn up, its based on individual recollection and just specifically asking if you have caught any of the fish species mentioned. It should just take a couple of minutes and if anyone has the time to complete it I would really appreciate it! Feel free to ask me any questions. Just click on the link.

    Hello Sarah,
Welcome to this nest of Vipers.
I’ am sure that any assistance you require with your survey can be accommodated on this website, in the past there has been some very constructive input into Sea angling and fund raising in the Northeast community.
To be honest I have had a look at your survey and in twenty years as a charter skipper I could not complete
    Half of your survey.
I would suggest you get some ground work done and approach some of the charter skippers, commercial skippers, and private boat owners on this site to assist you with your survey.
I think you will be surprised how many people will offer to give an input to your survey.

Have you actually taken the time to read the survey?

As I am sure if you had then your comment would not have been posted as there is no mention of any of your mainstay catches.

Sean defra have paid people to to do studys on what anglers catch it can be worded in different ways ask yourself why do they want to do this what anglers catch is minimul compaired to the commercial sector i have had phone calls asking to do surveys all i am saying is beware if you are giving any imformation on what you catch and where you catch it its all to easy to times it by how many anglers go fishing and come to some ridiculous figure its called collecting data have a look at the link to the WCSA site.
