  • The algie bloom has come early one or doubles today on sea-otter 2

The weather today lovelly to say the least flat calm little wind so expectations were high fine spring weather can set off an early algie bloom and with the fine weather of late that is just what has happened the water is a very murky green making fishing difficult blocking light out near the bottom.
We did manage to find some better clarity and that wasnt till we got out to the 20 mile we fished one of my favourite wrecks and with the water clarity not been perfect i was hopeing it wasnt gonna to let me down the lads picked away the best of the lads catch were a couple of cod nudgeing double figures mainly falling to baited shads we maneged pollock and ling as well so all in all a nice day.

Dave hooks into a double figure cod the sweep winer.

    It comes to the surface.

Here it is a nice speciman.

Peter strickson daves mate also nails a double .

Dave alexander gets a nice cod .

Nice shots again Paul, the weather was like a summers day at Hartlepool, a few fish starting to show now.
Same up here, a green tinge with the algae, altough the water looked crystal in my wake.

When i was trying to whiplash the sinker out of the wreck, on many occassion today, you could see the green tinge of the algae as the braid sliced through the surface trying to free up. Lost a rake of gear once that wind picked up after dinner but still a great day with a few fish to show.

Well done lads, some nice fish there, and I notice the heviest fish was caught on light tackle pretty much the same as I use, and thats 20 miles out. Bet that was good fun in deep water.

I spy a fixed spool reel, thinking of using one myself this year on the boats. Some nice fish lads well done.

ive got a vertical jig set up that i can use pirks of 100g as they free spool off the reel. Great fun. Can highly recommend it as a second set up.
