Well lads fished in our National comp Thursday out of my old hometown of Hartlepool (8/9/16). We had the following boats taking part. Great Escape. Alicat. Mistress, Sapphire, EvelynJane. Baccanalian, Sarah JFK, Predator, Famous ,Lone Shark, TJ Gannet.
To add spice myself and my friend Kevin Woodcock (who did all the organising) decided on a species hunt. They use this down South and we thought why not here. It turned out to be the right decision as Cod and Ling were tough to find on a windy and choppy sea day. Skippers were brilliant. First time I have fished on sand just off Crimdon beach for flatties on a boat.
Special guest and reporter was none other than Paul Fenech from Sea Angler. It was a pleasure to meet him on our presentation night in Durham university.
There was 30 teams of four anglers all on different boats. Top three came in as 1, Dorset. 2, West Midlands 3,Hampshire A team. Angler who won was from Norfolk B a Steve Allan fishing from Alicat.
All in all a fantastic day and special thanks to all the skippers who took part.
I was fishing from TJ Gannet and hoping for a Monkfish as one of the lads got one last time we were out but alas I had little luck.
Thanks again to Kev for all his hard work.-tight lines.
Mick Dunn.
