    info req please
    mate has a raymarine plotter/gps? can maps/data be copied to the sd cards for these or a site to download from please.
    sorry this info is vague as posting for a mate who as yet is not as member.

      Raymarine chart plotters use the Navionics data cards which depending upon the type of chart plotter will be a Compact Flash card or an SD card.
      The Raymarine website will facilitate downloads via an appropriate SD or CF card to upgrade the plotter function or improve the performance but it is the Navionics website that controls the chart downloads.
      It is my understanding that Navionics will (at a cost) allow downloads to update an existing card but they dont allow a full chart download to a "blank" SD or CF card. The cards are quite expensive at approx £120 for the SD card and approx £170 for the CF card but they often come available on ebay for UK waters.

        the above answers the question for maps.
        for data, the answer is yes the waypoints and tracks can be downloaded to memory card.
        the file you get is a generic raymarine file format with .fsh extension.
        I found it really difficult to convert these files for other formats when I switched to Simrad but it is doable with a bit of work and some free GPS waypoint management software such as GPSUtility.
